My Story

I was not born into the church, nor did I find it because I was persistently looking for it. It started when I was 17; I met a boy at school who introduced me to the church through stake youth dances, firesides, and eventually Sunday church. These acts led to missionary discussions after my 18th birthday. I felt comfortable and warm; a part of me that I never knew was missing was filled by whatever this boy had introduced me to. I had made great friends with the Elders who taught me and the boy who started it all for me.

My baptismal day
I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on July 14, 2008. I was confirmed the following Sunday.

A few great friends from BYU-Idaho, Winter 2009 semester
I had just recently graduated high school and was planning on attending the University of Oregon Fall of 2008. A last minute decision had me pulling out of the UO and applying for BYU-Idaho. I began my first semester of college at BYU-Idaho in January 2009.

I volunteered as an I-Rep & I-Team leader for BYU-Idaho's Get Connected program for incoming freshmen for 2 semesters

My family had a rough transition at first from my decision but they always kept with me. In fact, my mother decided to join the church herself, after diligently searching and working with the missionaries while I attended school at BYU-Idaho.

She was baptized on April 30, 2010, and was confirmed the following Sunday.

That summer, the boy who had introduced me to the church was returning home from his own mission. It was a wonderful event and he was very warmly welcomed home; he had been missed by many. The Sunday of his homecoming talk, we attended another ward's sacrament meeting to support a recently returned sister. It was during her homecoming talk that I received the revelation to pursue a mission.

I opened my mission call while out at school on November 28, 2010, with family and close friends on Skype who were all back home. A few roommates also witnessed this big event.

After my Fall 2010 semester of school, I returned home to go through the temple for my first time on December 23, 2010. I am now preparing for my call to report to the MTC on March 2, 2011.

I will return home in approximately August 2012. My tentative plan is to continue with my schooling at BYU-Idaho September 2012. Stay tuned through my letters home to see what the future holds for me.
